UK OAPs die after crash in Ire­land

An el­derly cou­ple from the UK have died in a car crash while on hol­i­day in the Repub­lic of Ire­land.

The col­li­sion be­tween a lorry and a car hap­pened on a straight stretch of road in Co Lim­er­ick yes­ter­day morn­ing.

Gardai are ap­peal­ing for wit­nesses fol­low­ing the fa­tal crash on the N25 Lim­er­ick to Tip­per­ary Road near the vil­lage of Drom­keen.

A man in his 80s and a wo­man in her 70s who were trav­el­ling in the car were both pro­nounced dead at the scene.

The Coroner has been no­ti­fied.

Post-mortem ex­am­i­na­tions will be car­ried out at Univer­sity Hospi­tal Lim­er­ick.

A man in his 40s who was driv­ing the lorry was taken by am­bu­lance to Univer­sity Hospi­tal Lim­er­ick.

How­ever, his con­di­tion is not thought to be life threat­en­ing.
