Events: Brothers bring in legal experts as they look to expand business
Two north-east festival entrepreneurs have recently appointed licensing experts to support their expanding business.
Mungo and Guy Finlayson, the brothers behind fast-growing company MFGF Events, have hired law firm TLT to provide support for their drinks festivals and the company’s expansion into new business areas across the UK.
The Deeside-based business was founded in April 2014 to help support Scotland’s young distillers and brewers.
It currently runs three events – Banchory Beer Festival, Inverurie Beer Festival and a new and upcoming gin festival.
As the events continue to grow, the brothers are looking to expand the business into new areas including online distribution of craft products. This means its licensing needs are becoming more complex so they have agreed to work with TLT who already act for a wide range of retail and leisure businesses including Glastonbury Festival, events at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Sagra Italiana Glasgow.
“It’s important that we are able to take the best possible advice”
Mungo Finlayson, cofounder of MFGF Events, said: “As our company has evolved it’s important that we are able to take the best possible advice.
“TLT has the breadth of experience and genuine passion for these events that makes this a good partnership.” The French competition watchdog has launched an investigation into the strategic tie-up between Tesco and Carrefour.
The Autorite de la Concurrence said it was looking into the competitive impact of the purchasing agreement to assess its effect on the food sector, both for suppliers and consumers.
Tesco and Carrefour have embarked on a partnership to jointly buy own-brand products and other items over a three-year period in a bid to negotiate better deals with suppliers.
The watchdog will be interviewing the suppliers affected by the deal as well as supermarket competitors.
