Mechanics stalwart Moore praised as testiomonial arrives

Forres Mechanics manager Charlie Rowley has hailed the loyalty of midfielder Scott Moore ahead of his testimonial against Moray rivals Elgin City tonight.

Moore will be rewarded for a decade of service to his hometown club when League 2 side City send a side to Mosset Park tonight (7.30pm).

The 34-year-old was part of the Can-Cans side that won the Highland League Cup and the North of Scotland Cup in 2010, but his biggest achievement came two years later when he helped Forres win the Highland League title.

Rowley said: “Given the career Scott has had we are pleased we’re able to provide a testimonial for him.

“Apart from a threeyear spell in Australia he has he has played all his football in the Highland League with Forres, and I feel he has improved as he has got older.

“I’ve been lucky to have a lot of loyal players and Scott is another one that thoroughly deserves his accolade. We don’t often get to play Elgin, the fans like to see a local Moray derby as there’s a bit of a rivalry there.”

Moore is the latest in a long line of Rowley’s players to be awarded a testimonial, and the Mechanics boss added: “We have been extremely lucky as a club, one of the biggest positives in my time is the fact we have managed to keep the quality of player we have.

“Neil Whyte was the first to get a testimonial, while we have also had Neil Whyte, Ryan Green, Graeme Grant, Simon Allan and Stuart Knight.

“Next year it will be Ross Macpherson, and then two years after that Lee and Graham Fraser will be due one if they stay with us.”
