Council help in time of drought

- BY STEPHEN WALSH

Aberdeenshire Council is assisting homes which are running low on their private water supplies.

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency has confirmed there are parts of the county where water levels are in “significant scarcity”.

There are more than 11,500 homes in the area which use private supplies.

The authority has confirmed it has so far received 13 requests for support and it is working with Scottish Water and the Scottish Government to provide bottled water and tanks at no cost.

The council is prioritising requests from vulnerable people, but anyone who needs help should contact environmental@ aberdeenshire.gov.uk or 01467 539539 during office hours.
