Search for hitman after shooting
Police are hunting a suspected British hitman who shot another Briton in the head outside a cafe in Amsterdam.
The 55-year-old victim, originally from Sale, Greater Manchester, was targeted on May 19 in what Dutch investigators believe was a gangland feud.
The man, who police have not named, remains in a stable condition in hospital.
The gunman had earlier been seen walking towards the premises in Stromarkt before he pulled out a handgun and fired at the victim.
He then caught a bicycle taxi in the direction of the Dam Square.
Despite a largescale search, the Dutch authorities have yet to trace the assailant and are now working closely with the UK’s National Crime Agency.
Police have received CCTV images of the suspect who a witness described as speaking English with a North-West accent, possibly Merseyside or Manchester.
