Two share lead at Meldrum

American Dan Olsen and Argentina’s Rafael Gomez are tied for the lead in the race for the £5,000 winner’s cheque in the Aberdeen Senior Masters at Meldrum House, Oldmeldrum. Olsen, who shot a seven-under-par 63 in his first round, carded a 70 yesterday, while Gomez shot the joint-best round of the second day, a five-under-65, to join him in pole position.

It might not be a shootout between the two as Argentina’s Cesar Monasterio, who finished third in a German seniors event last week, is only two behind them on 135 after a 69 and England’s Mark Ashworth jumped into contention with a second-round 66 to share third place with Monasterio.
