Families to benefit after big windfall

-

More north-east volunteers will be able to visit vulnerable or isolated families thanks to a £25,000 boost.

Home-Start Aberdeen has been given the money by the RS Macdonald Charitable Trust.

The organisation provides regular emotional and practical support to people in their own homes to help them avoid crises or breakdowns.

Its 125 volunteers work with around 220 families in the city, including 360 children, every year.

Scheme manager Georgette Cobban said: “We are most grateful to the RS Macdonald Charitable Trust for its funding commitment at a time when demand for our home visiting service continues to rise.

“This award will allow us to support up to 16 families on a weekly basis for up to a year.”
