Butterfly decline can be prevented

It seems to me that one of the measures that could be adopted by the public and the councils alike is to stop strimming everything in sight.
Some of our commonest species depend on stinging nettles as the food source for their caterpillars. These important plants are seen by many as unwanted weeds. They are not!
We need the humble stinging nettle to provide nitrogen and to feed the caterpillars of our most iconic and loved wildlife.
As roadsides are endlessly strimmed wild flowers and nettles are disappearing from our countryside, and the wildlife with them.
It would save councils money too if they let the meadow areas around our towns and villages grow.
