It’s that time again. Strictly Come Dancing has restarted! We can now expect a powdered, sequinned, sprayed effervescence of choreographic fun every Saturday for the next few months. I was cynical, but a friend saw it differently. She said: “There’s enough badness, sadness and tragedy in the world. It’s great to see the fantasy in this show.” She’s right. Strictly brings happiness into our sitting rooms. I’m not cynical any more. But sometimes life breaks our hearts beyond the restorative powers of Strictly Come Dancing. Events and illness crush and squeeze all enjoyment of life from us. But it helps us to remember that God loves us and never leaves our side. In the Bible, God says: “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” (Hebrews 13:5). His promise is to be more faithful than any friend. Try to remember that. In the meantime, if you can manage, keep dancing!
