Failure to make most of good start disappoints

-

For the first hour we were the better side. We dominated possession, played the slicker football and got in behind County.

They actually started quite well too in the first 10 minutes, with Michael Gardyne in particular looking lively.

But once we got our passing game going we cut right through them and were it not for Scott Fox we could have been two or three up.

The second half was more even, with us starting well, but Iain Vigurs gave County a presence and a calmness when he came on, although I didn’t see us losing a goal.

Michael Gardyne had a great chance in the last 10 minutes and when he fired over we were thinking ‘that’s the chance’. Then Mark Ridgers made a save from a wicked ball and, from there, I think both teams realised a draw was on the cards.

Many will think it is a fair result but we are disappointed due to the chances we created and the way we played, especially in the first half.

The fact the home goalkeeper is walking off the pitch with the man-of-the-match award from the sponsors tells you everything you need to know.

It’s a good point away from home but there is disappointment we didn’t make our firsthalf superiority count.

But we’ve shown if we can continue to be brave and play good football we can stay up there and in contention for the title.

“We’ve shown we can stay in contention for the title”
