Mackie and Highland put unbeaten records on the line

-

Mackie FP’s will have their promotion prospects tested in Inverness tomorrow when they take on league leaders Highland seconds at Canal Park in the clash of the only two unbeaten sides in Caley 2 North.

Club president Neil Foster is relishing the challenge and said: “We have made an encouraging start to the season, reaching the last four of the Regional Referee’s cup, while winning our first three games in the league. After consolidating our position last season, we are ready for a push to reach the top flight of the Caley leagues.”

Highland, under championship rules, cannot be promoted as no club with a side in the national leagues can have their second strings go up. Not that Mackie can expect an easy ride at Canal Park where second team players will be battling for places in their high-flying first team in National League 2.

Garioch will be on hand to drive a wedge between the two unbeaten sides when they travel to RAF Lossiemouth, while in Elgin, Moray and Banff will require no incentive for their derby clash.

In Caley Division 1, Aberdeen Wanderers and Ellon have tough home encounters against Dunfermline and Strathmore, given the impressive records of the two top clubs who have accumulated 670 points between them in 14 starts. In Caley 3 North, leaders Aberdeen University take on second placed Aberdeenshire.
