Drifting vessel issues alert to rescuers
Coastguard teams dealt with an incident off the north-east coast yesterday morning.
A lifeboat was launched from Fraserburgh to assist with a vessel drifting its anchor.
Rescue teams received a 999 call at 8am from the vessel in distress in the Fraserburgh Bay area.
Teams from Fraserburgh and Peterhead lifeboat station, and from RNLI Fraserburgh, took to the water to search for the ship.
A coastguard spokeswoman said: “We received the call to rescue a vessel in distress, shortly before 8am yesterday.
“Teams were tasked to the incident and the vessel was safely taken back to Fraserburgh harbour by 8.45am.”
