Rennie ready for Munster challenge

-

Dave Rennie told Glasgow to replicate their sparkling Scotstoun showings against Munster when they head to Limerick today.

The Warriors coach has been impressed with the way his men have coped with the Red Army on home soil, having scored a bonus-point victory last term and a 25-10 triumph six weeks ago.

But the Scots were not able to match those levels when they crossed the Irish Sea in February, sinking to a 21-10 loss.

Rennie said: “Last season we fronted up against Munster at home but we were outmuscled when we travelled to Ireland for the reverse leg. That’s our challenge this weekend.

“They’re such a tough side as they’ve shown over the past couple of weeks in Europe against quality opposition.”

Rennie’s team selection could see Chris Fusaro rack up his 150th game for Glasgow if he comes off the bench at Thomond Park.

The 29-year-old is in his ninth season with the Warriors and will become just the ninth player to reach that milestone in the club’s history.

The starting XV features five of the 16 players named in Gregor Townsend’s Scotland’s squad for the autumn internationals, notably at half-back where brothers George and Pete Horne start beside each other.

Sam Johnson returns from the national team’s training camp to start at inside centre, while in the pack Rob Harley and Matt Fagerson are both included.

Nick Grigg partners Johnson in midfield and behind them Rory Hughes, DTH van der Merwe and Ruaridh Jackson make up the back-three.

Young hooker Grant Stewart starts for the Warriors for the first time.
