Pair forced man to takemoneyfromATM

-

Desperate for cash during a 12-hour drinking binge, two Aberdeen men attacked a man at his home and forced him to take money from an ATM.

Aiden Bartlett, who appeared on remand from HMP Grampian, and Dominic Hawcutt, of Urquhart Road, admitted “repeatedly punching” Brendan Allan.

They then took him to a bank machine, before ordering him to withdraw money and robbing him.

Bartlett, 22, and Hawcutt, 19, attacked Mr Allan at his home on Lemon Street before coercing him to take an undisclosed sum from the machine at the Asda store on Beach Boulevard.

Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday heard the pair had been drinking from 6pm the previous night and arrived at Mr Allan’s door at 6am on September 1. Both admitted assault and robbery.

Sheriff William Summers noted Bartlett had similar offences on his record and jailed him for 14 months.

Hawcutt, a first offender, was ordered to perform 240 hours of unpaid work within 12 months.
