ren McGregor cleared the danger.

The pace and quality was much improved in the second half as the chances flowed and McInnes sent Bruce Anderson on for the tiring James Wilson for the final 20 minutes in pursuit of a second goal to put the game beyond the visitors.

Hibs manager Lennon freshened up his forward line for a late push but Aberdeen weathered all that came their way as they stood firm to take all three points.

There were a few moments of concern as Hibs pushed for an equaliser but for Lewis did not have a save to make.

As was the case at Rugby Park on Sunday, this was not a fluid, free-flowing Aberdeen display but the Dons showed no lack of resolve and defensive resilience when required. It was always going to be a tough game.

This afternoon we expected the conditions which came and we knew it would be difficult but we were very competitive throughout and the work-rate and industry at the top end unsettled hibs and they didn’t get into a rhythm.

It was difficult for both sets of players and chances wer always going to be at a premium. There was a loose pass and Gary capitalised.

We gave ourselves something to hold on to but the industry of McGinn, Wilson and May allowed us to squeeze the game. It was played like a cup tie and it needed to be due to the conditions.

Shinnie and Ferugson tackled like lions and won the majority of things which allowed things to go our way. One goal was enough and it’s not easy against Hibs. I hold them in high regard and to get on top of them and get all three points is really pleasing.

I’ve been saying for a while that there are reasons why we haven’t had consistency of selection and in the last four games we’ve played there has been one change in each of them.

We’ve won different kinds of games recently.

The responsibility to keep a clean sheet was clear from everybody. We still had Ferguson, Lowe and Logan giving away inches in the box but we were competitive and clearing balls. The centre-half partnership has been very good recently and hopefully that continues.
