Officials pull out all the stops to open section
of road being included in the same “phase” of the contract as the new River Don bridge, which is not ready.
Ministers and officials have asked the contractors to vary the original contract agreement so the key section of road can be opened before the river crossing. Completion of the entire scheme has been pushed back from autumn to next month.
Last week, Transport S e c r e t a r y M i c h a e l Matheson held fresh talks with Aberdeen Roads Limited (ARL) after criticising the consortium for the delay.
He said: “The meeting was positive and both parties have agreed to work constructively together to progress the contract variation necessary to open the next section of this project between Craibstone and Stonehaven and Charleston.”
