Fans and city lose out by Dons move

-

SIR, – I was at the Aberdeen v Hibs game at Pittodrie last Friday night. Just before the game started, the announcer, in order to gee-up the crowd, said: “This is our home, this is our team, this is our city.”

Well, it is for now, but Stewart Milne wants to move the club out of the city to an isolated site with no neighbouring facilities which will involve all fans having to drive or go by bus.

When I got out of the ground, fans were going to all points of the compass, walking home, back to their cars or calling into the numerous pubs on the way to the town centre to meet their friends, have a pint and chew over the team’s performance.

None of this will be possible after the move to Kingsford.

The north-east football public need to wake up and smell the coffee as the move to Kingsford could be disastrous for our club.

I am amazed that there has been no organised fan protest at the proposed move.

There is no good reason why Pittodrie cannot be redeveloped

other than our chairman’s determination not to do so. Jack Watt, Berstane Loan, St Ola, Orkney
