Watson boost for Cove in Turriff test

-

Cove Rangers welcome back their captain Eric Watson from suspension for their home League Cup tie against Turriff United.

The central defender missed last Saturday’s 2-0 win against Forres after being sent off in his side’s 4-2 defeat by Formartine United.

Cove manager John Sheran said: “Eric is back in the squad and so is midfielder Connor Scully who also missed last week’s game against Forres as his partner had just had a baby.

“I was quite impressed with Turriff when we played them in the league.

“They kept trying to play football and he has a lot of good young players. We know they will be fit and they’ll make it tough.”

United manager Kris Hunter is looking forward to the match on the artificial surface at Balmoral Stadium.

He said: “Their new surface is one of the better ones so we can get the ball down and play football. The biggest problem is so can Cove and they’re a little bit better than us.”

Turriff United travel without the injured Cammy Bowden while fellow defender Ross Anderson faces a late fitness test.

Elsewhere, Fraserburgh face Deveronvale at Bellslea.

Broch assistantmanager James Duthie said: “Vale are a young side with loads of energy. They work hard and and if you’re not on your game they’re very quick on the counterattack.”

Keith will miss defender Ryan Spink and forward Jamie McAllister for their Kynoch Park clash with Brora who travel without the injured Zander Sutherland and the suspended Mark Nicolson.
