Omar calls for consistency

- BY ANDY SKINNER

Elgin City midfielder Rabin Omar says the Black and Whites must quickly address their inconsistency in order to challenge for League 2 promotion.

City have experienced an up-and-down campaign so far, with each of their last five victories followed by a defeat, in a run which has left them a point adrift of the play-off places in fifth.

Elgin host Clyde today, as they aim to bounce back from last week’s 4-2 Arbroath manager Dick Campbell has been handed an eight-game touchline ban by the Scottish FA.

The 64-year-old was sent to the stands by referee Craig Napier during the Red Lichties’ 1-1 draw with Raith Rovers on October 6.

Along with a Scottish FA misconduct charge, he was alleged to have breached a protocol for staff expelled from the technical area.

The SFA tribunal gave Campbell an immediate six-game ban but added two more matches which had been suspended from last season after he confronted a referee during a Scottish Cup tie against Ayr United.

Campbell was given a seven-game ban for walking on to the pitch to confront whistler Mike Roncone, with the tribunal also imposing a further two-match ban in the event of a further breach, which has now kicked in.

Campbell said: “I thought it was a fair hearing but I will be back in the stands for the next few games.”

Arbroath are 10 points clear of second-placed Raith Rovers at the top of League 1. They are unbeaten in their opening 13 games with 10 wins and three draws.

They take on rivals Brechin City today.
