Scot­land’s Taylor shares Morocco lead

Scot­land’s Rachael Taylor shares the lead af­ter the open­ing day of the Ladies Euro­pean Tour qual­i­fy­ing school pre-qual­i­fier at Amelkis Golf Club in Mar­rakesh, Morocco.

Air­drie-born Taylor, who is based in Ger­many, fin­ished six un­der par af­ter shoot­ing a bo­gey-free 66.

She is tied at the sum­mit with Aus­tria’s Na­dine Dre­her and Swe­den’s Lin­nea Strom.

They hold a two-stroke ad­van­tage over Char­lotte Hannah Leatham from Eng­land, Swede Filippa Mo­erk, France’s Mathilda Cap­peliez, Tvesa Ma­lik from In­dia and Scot Ali­son Muir­head.

Ni­ina Li­ias (Fin­land) and An­nelie Sjo­holm (Swe­den) are a stroke fur­ther back on three-un­der-par.

Leona Maguire (Ire­land), Lara Pla­chetka (France) and Dik­sha Da­gar (In­dia) are tied for 11th on two-un­der­par, while Leona’s twin Lisa Maguire is 39th on twoover.

Gran­town’s Hannah McCook is tied 35th af­ter a one-over-par 73, fight­ing back from a three over front nine af­ter drop­ping shots at the first, third and sev­enth holes with two birdies com­ing in at holes 11 and 18.

Aboyne ama­teur Kim­ber­ley Bev­eridge is tied 63rd in the 70-player field af­ter a seven-over-par round of 79.

Heather Stir­ling, from Bridge of Al­lan, is tied 27th af­ter open­ing with a level par 72.

Af­ter four rounds, the top 38 play­ers and ties will ad­vance to the fi­nal stage, to be played at Amelkis Golf Club and Palm Golf Ourika over five rounds on De­cem­ber 16-20.
