Three points would be perfect before City trip

-

Maximum points out of a big week for Peterhead is do-able, according to goalkeeper Greg Fleming.

Berwick Rangers lie in store today, before a clash with top-of-the-table Edinburgh City at Ainslie Park on Tuesday.

They finish the week with a home game against Cowdenbeath and have designs on reclaiming top spot in League 2.

Three points today would be the perfect way to set themselves up for the trip to the capital, with City’s challenge at the league summit showing no signs of abating.

Fleming has seen his side pick up points without being at their best in recent weeks and hopes that sets a precedent for the games to come. He said: “There’s some big games this week and hopefully we can make the most of it. You’ve got to hope for nine points out of nine and we’ll be doing all we can for that.

“It’s not make-or-break just yet but we look to take maximum points in every game we play.

“We’ve ground out a few results lately when we’ve maybe not been at our best. Last season when that happened, we ended up drawing or dropping points. It’s not a bad thing that we’ve been able to do that this year.”

Annan could have a say in the top-of-the-table make-up this month, hosting City today and facing Clyde at Broadwood next week.

A favour from the Galabank outfit would not go amiss but should Edinburgh’s impressive run continue, it would be no surprise to Fleming. He added: “You see some of the players they have signed – they have a good squad.

“I played with Conrad (Balatoni) at Ayr and he could be playing at a higher level. Craig Thomson, Scott Shepherd, Blair Henderson, they’re good players and I’m not surprised by how well they’ve done. If anything, it was probably more of a surprise they didn’t do better last season.”
