Fresh appeal in search for missing Alastair
The search for missing man Alastair Done, who was last seen at Balmedie Beach on January 5, has entered its second week.
The 25-year-old from Cheshire was last spotted in a car park at the coastal spot by a dog walker, who later raised concerns with the police.
Since then officers have carried out extensive searches with dogs, helicopters and Coastguard assistance.
Police have established that Mr Done travelled by train from Crewe to Aberdeen on Friday January 4.
After arriving at the railway station at 3.51pm, he went to Aberdeen Market.
That night he stayed at the White Horse Inn, and was also spotted walking along the dual carriageway in the direction of Balmedie on the same day.
The missing man was then seen on CCTV at the Premier Stores in Balmedie at 1pm on Saturday January 5 where he bought food and drink.
Following the last sighting, clothes that matched those he was wearing at the time were recovered on the beach, about a mile north of the car park.
Detective Inspector Sam Buchan said: “I would like to thank those who have been in touch with information which has helped us build a better picture of Alastair’s movements since arriving in Aberdeen.
“We are still trying to establish exactly why he would come here, in addition to appealing for further sightings.”
The 25-year-old is described as around 5ft 11in, with a buzz haircut and glasses.
When he was last seen he was wearing a black hooded fleece, black walking boots and carrying a black rucksack with a blue roll-mat attached.
Anyone with information should call the police on 101.
