New luxury dog hotel application approved

-

Plans have been approved for a five-star dog hotel outside a north-east village.

The new kennels will be built within the grounds of an existing home near Memsie and are designed to offer accommodation for up to 10 canines.

It is hoped the Mormond Dog Hotel and Spa project will also be the catalyst for new jobs with a full-time groomer and two part-time members of staff.

Aberdeenshire Council planning officials have confirmed the venture can go ahead and said there were “no material considerations” why they should reject the proposals.

Six conditions have been set out before construction can begin. These relate to road safety improvements and ensuring that the new property has adequate drainage.

Tracey Blix lives in the residence that would sit alongside the new kennels and she submitted her own business plan as part of the application.

The document spelled out that the new venture would not be like any other accommodation for dogs.

It said: “We will promote a homely atmosphere, much different to the stereotypical kennels we all know, where dogs feel at home and dog owners can confidently leave their furry family members knowing they will be treated with the love and care they deserve.”

The dog hotel would also offer owners a chance to see how their pooch is getting on through the use of inhouse security cameras.
