Union needed to protect finances
SIR, – Some time ago the SNP government bought Prestwick Airport for a sum of £1. This week Ferguson’s shipyard was brought out of administration and the SNP will be paying wages and suppliers until the ships are built or until someone buys the yard.
Does this therefore mean that any Scottish companies going bust in the not too distant future shall be saved by the Scottish government under the control of Nicola Sturgeon? I wonder where all the cash is going to come from and if the SNP gets its independence where will the money come from to pay pensions, NHS, security including Army, Navy and Air Force as well as numerous other public services that we all enjoy in Scotland today?

the necessary funds from the Scottish Government to carry out improvements and repair of the NC500. Holyrood’s parliament will be aware of the £5 billion income brought into Edinburgh and the central belt by five million tourists each year. Highlands and Islands MSPs should stress to parliament the value to the Scottish economy of the £2 billion earned annually from the two million visitors to the region.
Funding of adequate maintenance and realignment of single track stretches of the NC500 is essential. Only then will Scotland maintain and increase its revenue from Highland tourism.
