Clach secure striker on loan deal

-

Clachnacuddin have secured Buckie Thistle striker Stevie Ross on a two-month loan deal.

Ross has yet to make an appearance for the Jags this season but he has been training with the Lilywhites and manager Sandy McLeod is pleased with the acquisition.

Manager McLeod said: “Getting Stevie Ross on loan for the next couple of months from Buckie has given us a massive boost.

“I used to watch him when he was a youngster at Ross County and I thought he was brilliant.

“I’m really thankful to get him.

“When Buckie boss Graeme Stewart phoned to ask if we wanted to take him for a couple of months and give him game time, I actually thought it was a bit of a wind-up.

“It’s great for us to get a player of Stevie’s calibre.

“We know he hasn’t played so far this term but he’s trained a few times with us already and he’s looking pretty sharp. He played for our under-20 side on Monday night.

“He’ll certainly help the young guys playing around about him although it will take him a couple of games to get his match fitness levels up.

“Unfortunately, Stevie won’t be eligible to play against Brora Rangers in the next round of the Scottish Cup as Buckie are still in the cup and they might want to call on him later in the competition.”

Reflecting on Saturday’s excellent Scottish Cup first round 2-1 triumph over Nairn County, to set up a home tie against Brora in the second round, McLeod added: “It was a massive win for us and my first as Clach manager. It’s nice to get a reward after all the hard work.”
