Keith add Staggies bucks to bolster midfield options

- BY DAVE EDWARDS

Ross County teenage midfielders Jack Grant and Gregor MacDonald have joined Keith on loan until January.

Maroon manager Dean Donaldson is delighted to have bolstered his squad with the addition of a couple of full-time young footballers.

He said: “I’ve spoken to the lads, who are both 18 years old, and they’re very keen to get going.

“When we saw they had become available on loan, it was a deal I wanted to get done as we’re light in midfield.

“We’ve recently lost the likes of Scott Begg and Macauley Rae and Stewart Hutcheon has picked up a longterm injury, so it will be good to get these boys in and get them playing regularly to freshen up the side.

“They’re both full-time, they’re young and fit, they’re both enthusiastic and ready to kick-on with their careers and hopefully we can help them with that.”

The Dingwall club’s reserve team manager Richie Brittain was thrilled, saying: “I think by now people can see we are eager to get our guys out there and get them more competitive experience.

“The benefit we have is we can still work with the players on a daily basis and have them for our reserve fixtures, but it gives them that edge in terms of getting experience against a greater variety of players and teams.

“Also with the reserve league reduced in numbers this year it gives these players a more consistent opportunity to play football. Keith are a good, young team with a good, young manager, and we see this as a good opportunity for the guys to go in to a team looking to develop and become stronger.”
