P&J giveaway delights two more readers

Another day, another £250 cash prize for two readers of the Press and Journal.

Each day this week, cash prizes are waiting to be won by members of our loyal readership as part of our £3,000 giveaway.

The giveaway celebrates all the towns the Press and Journal is distributed to all year round, with two lucky winners being drawn each day.

Tuesday’s selected towns were Fochabers and Newburgh, with Hazel Mitchell from Elgin and Roy Mitchell from Westhill scooping the prizes.

Roy, 66, was “over the moon” when he received the call as he was partaking in volunteer work by driving the children’s mini bus.

“The kids were just getting off the bus when I answered my phone and all the kids were super excited for me too,” he said.

Newlywed Roy and his wife are preparing for an incredible 10-day trip to Lake Como in Italy and say the cash prize is a welcome boost to the couples’ spending money pot.

“Our wedding was three months ago so this is my wife and I’s first big holiday together as a married couple and we’re both so excited.”

Although Roy, of Westhill, admits he never bought a paper before he met his new wife, as a life-long reader of The Press and Journal she insisted they sign up to a subscription for their new home together.

Fellow winner Hazel, 50, was equally overjoyed to discover she had won £250 on Tuesday morning.

Hazel, of Elgin, buys the paper for herself and her father every day and encourages other readers to enter the week-long competition.

“This is the first prize I’ve ever won so if you don’t try, you don’t get.”
