Watson is loving football again at Staggies
Keith Watson’s success with Ross County has helped him put an injury ravaged spell with Saturday’s opponents St Johnstone behind him.
Defender Watson was limited to only eight appearances across two seasons with the Saints due to knee problems following his move from St Mirren in 2016, while he also spent time on loan with English side Hartlepool United.
Watson played a major role in helping County secure the Championship title after joining last summer, and has racked up 44 appearances for the Dingwall outfit.
The 29-year-old insists the Staggies have helped rekindle his enjoyment of football.
He said: “I was there for two seasons but it was a frustrating time.
“I didn’t play as many games as I should have but I did enjoy it. I got on well with the boys.
“It has worked out well for me, because I’ve played a lot of games at County and won trophies. For me, that’s massive.
“Going from such a frustrating spell to playing and doing well at County has been great.
“I’ve absolutely loved it, and I think my decision to come up here was definitely worthwhile.”
Saints are still searching for their first Premiership win of the season at Victoria Park, with the Perth side occupying bottom spot in the table.
Watson reckons a revival is inevitable from Tommy Wright’s McDiarmid Park men – but he hopes to delay it this weekend. He said: “I definitely wouldn’t write them off. Teams can have a bad start and we’re just hoping that come Saturday that is going to continue and we come away with the three points.”
