Logical expansion for Vulcan
Fledgling energy services company Vulcan Completion Products (VCP) has grown its Aberdeenshire office footprint after winning new work worth about £12 million this year.
VCP, which was founded in 2016 by Ian Kirk and has its headquarters in Arnhall Business Park, Westhill, designs and manufactures engineered products for the global oil and gas industry completions market.
The company’s recent success on the contracts front has led to it acquiring 2,500sqft of new warehouse space close to its head office.
Bosses see the addition of a purposebuilt facility at Kingshill Park as crucial in facilitating an increase in UKbased inventory levels.
This in turn is expected to boost the efficient delivery of products and services to a client base which is simultaneously growing at home and overseas.
VCP’s new contracts since the start of 2019, all in key global marketplaces, include a multimillion-pound deal with a supermajor in the Caspian region.
Distribution deals throughout Europe have also fuelled expansion.
Mr Kirk said: “We are confident that the addition of this new space and the extra capacity it facilitates will spearhead further growth, and the creation of jobs within our company.
“The new building is ideally located close to the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route and in a thriving business community which we are delighted to be a part of.”
VCP also has offices in the United Arab Emirates and Azerbaijan, as well as manufacturing capability in Asia, the Caspian, the Middle East and Europe.
Mr Kirk, the company’s sole director, was one of a trio of men who launched Portlethen firm Downhole Products in 1994 and sold it 14 years later to US firm Varel International Energy Services in a multimillion pound deal.
The Robert Gordon’s Institute of Technology-educated engineer started out building motorbikes in his spare time before teaming up with Bill Barron and Alistair Clark at Downhole Products.
