Cove: Yule eyes quick recovery.
Cove Rangers midfielder Blair Yule believes the Aberdeen side will quickly recover from back-to-back defeats.
Seven days after losing their first League 2 game, going down 3-2 at Stenhousemuir, the Balmoral Stadium club were beaten 1-0 at Ayrshire juniors Auchinleck Talbot in the second round of the Scottish Cup on Saturday.
“We’ve now lost two games in seven days and we’re not used to that but we will bounce back,” said Yule.
“We have got a winning mentality and will be doing everything we can to get back to winning ways.
“We are now out of the Scottish Cup so can concentrate fully on getting that promotion we seek.
“Don’t get me wrong, we were desperate to stay in the cup and get into the next round, but we can now focus on the league and if we keep going the way we started I think we’ll do it.”
Cove, however, will have to wait to make amends after this weekend’s match against Albion Rovers was postponed as the Cliftonhill side are heading to Claggan Park to face Fort William in a Scottish Cup replay.
The match against Rovers has been rescheduled for Tuesday October 29 (7.45pm kick-off ).
The wait to get back on the pitch only adds to the frustration for Yule, who feels Cove should have won Saturday’s tie against Auchinleck.
He said: “The result on Saturday felt like we had been mugged by them again as we lost 2-1 down there in a Scottish Cup replay last season as well. We were so in control of the game but they scored the winner in the 88th minute.
“Maybe that was what they were playing for, a late breakaway goal.
“But, to be fair to them, they took their chance when it came along.
“We didn’t really create any clear-cut chances ourselves. It definitely feels like another one that got away.”
