Keith to lead team at running event
European youth orienteering champion Megan Keith leads a strong Inverness Harriers women’s team in this weekend’s Scottish crosscountry championships at Cumbernauld.
The teenager, who had an impressive victory in the Baxters River Ness 10km earlier in the month, will be joined by Emily Andrew, Gemma Cormack and Heather Campbell.
The Harriers will also field competitive sides in the young athlete’s races with Katie Meek, Grace MacDonald and Anna Cairns tackling the girls’ event, while the boys’ team will be finalised from a squad including Michael Miller, Jake Henderson, Angus Smith and Lucas Cairns.
Aberdeen AAC will be represented in the boys’ race by Dylan Pearson, Hamish McKay and Lewis Watt, while Kirsty Purcell, Johanna Mackenzie and Anna McNeill will run in the girls’ race.
Great Aberdeen halfmarathon winner James Hoad and Scottish 1,500m track champion Michael Ferguson lead the Aberdeen AAC team in the men’s race and will be joined by teenagers Sunny McGrath and Adam Brown.
Scotland international Cameron Strachan leads the Metro Aberdeen side, which also includes hillrunning international Hamish Battle. Great Aberdeen 10km champion Ben Ward is also in the team.
Meanwhile, East Sutherland athlete Ross Gollan is joined by Gavin Bryson (Highland Hill Runners) in the Scotland team for this weekend’s Trofeo Vanoni mountainrunning relay in Italy.
Carnethy’s Hamish Wolfe is the third member of the team. Moray’s Scotland international Kenny Wilson makes his marathon debut in Frankfurt on Sunday.
