Banks o’Dee on road to Carluke

The spotlight returns to the Scottish Junior Cup this weekend with no fewer than 15 north sides still involved.

At the fourth time of asking, Banks o’ Dee will try to play their second-round tie against Thorniewoo­d in Carluke (2pm) with the winners facing a trip to Glenafton.

There will be at least two local teams in the last 32 with Stonehaven welcoming Ellon United to Glenury Park and Stoneywood Parkvale travelling to Longside.

At New Advocates Park, East End host Scone Thistle while, a short distance away at Aberdeen Sports Village, Bridge of Don Thistle meet Ardrossan Winton Rovers.

Culter face a tough game at Crombie Park where Rossvale are the visitors, while Banchory St Ternan will have their work cut out when Larkhall make the trip north to Milton Park.

Buckie Rovers welcome Blantyre with Burghead Thistle entertaini­ng Kirkintill­och Rob Roy, Dufftown at home to Johnstone Burgh and Islavale meeting Rutherglen Glencairn in Keith.

On their travels are Dyce, who play Benburb, and Hermes, who visit Tayside to meet Lochee United. All third-round ties kick off at 2.30pm.

In the McBookie. com Superleagu­e, tabletoppe­rs Deveronsid­e are at home to Montrose Roselea while secondplac­ed Nairn St Ninian travel to Hall Russell Utd. In the other game, Colony Park take on Maud.

Game of the day in the First Division sees Aberdeen University take on Fraserburg­h United where a win would see the students leapfrog Stonehaven at the head of the table while Sunnybank travel to Buchanhave­n Hearts.

Second Division pacesetter­s Forres Thistle go to Whitehills and, elsewhere, Glentanar host Spey Valley United and Newmachar United make the trip to New Elgin.

All league matches kick off at 2pm.
