FM to make speech
Nicola Sturgeon will speak at a major proindependence rally as part of her push for a second vote on the issue to be held next year.
The first minister will headline the event in George Square, Glasgow, on November 2.
Independence supporters have staged a number of high-profile marches across Scotland but Ms Sturgeon has chosen not to join in.
However, she will attend the event next weekend, organised by The National, Scotland’s only proindependence daily newspaper.
Ms Sturgeon told it: “I’m really looking forward to speaking at the #indyref2020 rally in George Square next Saturday afternoon – and I hope people from all over the country will come together and make Scotland’s voice heard.”
It comes after she used her speech to the SNP conference in Aberdeen to insist a second independence referendum “must” take place in 2020.
The first minister will formally request the power to stage a referendum from Prime Minister Boris Johnson before the end of this year.
