Raising the roof GOOD PRICE
Home is ideal for first-time buyers as it offers a lot for a bargain price, says Susan Welsh
When it comes to taking that first step on the property ladder, you often have to make sacrifices.
You’d like two bedrooms but the budget will only stretch to one, or you’d really like a home with a private garden but can only afford a flat with a teeny, shared garden.
But on occasion, a property will come on the market that ignores these guidelines and gives you everything you desire, at a price you can afford.
Number 18 Towerhill Crescent in the leafy Cradlehall
area of Inverness, is a perfect example.
It’s on the market at offers over £125,000 which puts it in the affordablehomes category and makes it ideal for first-time buyers.
It’s a deceptively spacious two-bedroom property, which has been recently repainted in neutral tones and re-carpeted throughout.
It has double glazing, electric heating and surprisingly large rooms, but more importantly it comes with its own private parking space and fullyenclosed garden which makes it ideal for anyone with children or a pet dog.
Sitting within wellestablished and cared-for gardens, the accommodation begins with a bright entrance vestibule which opens into a large, frontfacing lounge with plenty of space for furniture and ample room for dining.
From here there’s access to an inner hallway which leads to the rest of the accommodation which includes a well-appointed practical kitchen with a good selection of base and wall-mounted units, washing machine, free-standing electric cooker and enough space for a small table or breakfast bar.
The flat, which is part of a four-plex complex but looks like a large house, has two good-sized bedrooms, both with large built-in wardrobes.
The family bathroom has a white three-piece suite and an electric-powered over-bath shower.
One striking thing about this property is the amount of storage space you get.
The inner hall has four large storage cupboards, one of which has lots of sockets which means it could easily be transformed into a mini home office, work or study area.
The bedrooms and kitchen overlook lovely mature gardens, while the flat’s own private garden is at the rear of the property, fully enclosed and laid to grass.
There is also a private parking area to the side of the property with ample additional parking available nearby for visitors.
While this property would make an excellent purchase for the first-time buyer, it also has excellent letting potential given its location which is within easy walking distance of facilities at nearby Cradlehall Shopping Centre, which include a general store, bakers, dentists, hair salon and nursery.
There is a regular bus service to the city centre, the University of the Highlands and Islands and the popular Simpson’s Garden Centre is close by. Further amenities including the large Inshes Retail Park and Raigmore Hospital are also within easy reach.
