Peterhead midfielder Scott Brown is desperate to end the Blue Toon’s wait for a victory when Raith Rovers visit Balmoor this afternoon.

Jim McInally’s side have not won since a 2-1 success at Stranraer at the end of August and head into today’s encounter on the back of four successive defeats.

A second half strike from Ryan McGeever was enough to earn Dumbarton a 1-0 win against Jim McInally’s men last weekend but Brown felt his side played well enough to take at least a point from the match.

It doesn’t get any easier this weekend with the visit of League 1 leaders Raith Rovers, who defeated the

Blue Toon 4-0 at Stark’s Park in September.

Brown said: “We could put the run down to bad luck but I also think we haven’t kicked on as much as we would have liked after pre-season.

“It is hard when we haven’t been scoring enough goals to rely on the defenders to keep them out at the other end.

“Rory McAllister is going through a tough run, which is probably the first time that has happened in his career.

“It is up to everyone else to chip in as we can’t keep relying on him to score the goals.

“I t h a s b e e n disappointing because at the start of the season we felt we were doing quite well.

“We felt the matches against Dumbarton and Airdrie were games we should have won.

“Six points would make a massive difference.

“It is up to us to pick up the form.

“We know we aren’t safe but we also know that a couple of wins can propel us right up the table.”

The Blue Toon won promotion to the third tier as League 2 champions last term and Brown admits there has been a noticeable increase in standard.

He said: “It is a step up in quality from League 2.

“We lost 4-0 against Falkirk (a fortnight ago) but I felt we didn’t do too badly that day.

“I said to one of the boys on Tuesday, last Saturday’s game against Dumbarton would have been one we would have won last season when we were just churning out wins.

“We just had a winning attitude.

“It is hard to explain but when you aren’t winning it feels things just go against you.”

The Blue Toon were beaten 3-1 by Raith in the Betfred Cup in July before

September’s heavy defeat in Kirkcaldy.

But Brown hopes home advantage will make the difference this time around.

He said: “We know Raith’s qualities.
