POIGNANT OCCASION AS THE CHAIRMAN OF BOARD REALISES 20-YEAR VISION

The Press and Journal (Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire) - - SPORT -

On Thursday I hosted the official opening of Cormack Park and had the opportunity to get a first look around the Dons’ new training centre at Kingsford.

The complex is superb and should be a massive help to Derek McInnes, his staff and squad. The manager is understandably delighted that after sixand-a-half years in the job, he finally has a dedicated facility to work out of and the players will love it. Dave Cormack deserves much praise for his financial input, as do many others who have played their part down the years, but

Stewart Milne most credit has to go to Stewart Milne. Since becoming chairman two decades ago, he has been determined to get this done and seeing phase one finally in place was, I know, an emotional moment for him.

Building the stadium will still be a major struggle, particularly raising the near-£50 million required. But for now, Stewart should take great pride in what he has achieved.
