Funding of £11.5m unveiled for local groups
Community groups around Moray will benefit from a slice of £11.5 million funding announced by the Scottish Government yesterday.
The cash from the Investing in Communities Fund is to be shared between 250 community groups, social enterprises and charities throughout Scotland to tackle poverty and inequality, while also helping those living in rural locations.
Among the groups to benefit are Moray Food Plus, Forres Area Community Trust, Lossiemouth Community Development Trust, and
“Tireless dedication of the local volunteers”
Tomintoul and Glenlivet Development Trust.
Local SNP MSP Richard Lochhead said: “It is incumbent upon all of us to challenge inequality wherever it rears its head.
“This new fund will promote communityled solutions to try and get the best possible outcomes for Moray’s most vulnerable people.”
Further funding over the next two years will allow recipient groups to create longer-term plans.
Mr Lochhead added: “The flexible, multi-year structure of the funding is geared towards sustainability. It will give these initiatives confidence that they will have resources they need to succeed.
“It is the tireless dedication and compassion of all the local volunteers that allows these projects to exist. I am confident this funding will allow these projects to flourish.”
