Double boon for Beauly as Mackay and Brindle sign up

-

Beauly have been boosted by the double capture of Ryan Mackay and Robbie Brindle, who have quit Camanachd Cup semifinalists Caberfeidh to return to Braeview Park.

The duo’s recruitment is a tonic for the club’s new managerial pairing of Roger Cormack and Jamie Maclennan, with both players set to face Glengarry at Craigard Park in tomorrow’s friendly.

Cabers manager Jodi Gorski said: “Ryan’s departureisabiglossto us as he’s been a key player in our team for the last three years, an excellent midfielder. I couldn’t fault him as a player – but I’m disappointed to find out he’s gone from our players, without Ryan taking the trouble to notify us.

“Robbie joined us a year ago but had fitness issues and we didn’t see the best of him in our forward line.”

Cabers, who showed great promise last season, including taking Newtonmore to extra-time in the Camanachd Cup semi-final, have also been hit by the loss of four other players.

Gorski added: “Ben Macdonald has indicated he is not playing this year while Scott MacLachlan is a new father and won’t be available for family and work reasons. Ken Mackenzie, unfortunately, is no longer allowed to play due to a medical condition.

“Goalkeeper Ewen Pilcher has also departed, but we’re well covered there by second-team keeper Ian McColl, who finished last season as first-choice.”

“We gave a group of younger players their

Premiership baptism late last season and they’re ready to step up to fill the gaps left by those who have left the club.”

Cabers face Newtonmore at Castle Leod tomorrow, with new goalkeeper Owen Fraser between the sticks for the visitors.

Allan Macleod makes his debut as Strathglass boss as they face Lovat at Cannich for the Murdo Mackenzie Memorial Trophy.
