Lennon plays it cool despite 10-point gap

Ross County mid fielder Iain Vigurs is at a loss to explain his side’s poor away form. The Staggies were beaten 3-0 by Hibernian at Easter Road on Wednesday with Marc McNulty, Christian Doidge and Adam Jackson on target in a comfortable win for the hosts.
Stuart Kettlewell and Steven Ferguson’s men have won only once on the road this season – a 2-1 win at Motherwell in September – and have gained only eight points from their 14 away fixtures in the Scottish Premiership.
Vigurs, who could make his 200th appearance for County when they face St Johnstone tomorrow, accepts his side’s form on the road this season has not been good enough.
The 31-year-old said: “The home form has been all right but I really don’t know why the away form hasn’t been good. If we had the answer we would have been leaving Hibernian with something to show for it. It is a hard one to put your finger on but whatever it is, it is not working.
“Wednesday wasn’t great. I felt like we conceded three goals that were easily preventable.
“We didn’t make them work too hard to score.
“We just weren’t at the races. It was the polar opposite to last week against Livingston (a 2-0 win) when we dominated for large periods.
“At Easter Road, we didn’t show up. We all need to work on our decisionmaking. It just wasn’t right on Wednesday night.”
Victoria Park has been a happier hunting ground for the Staggies, with them having accumulated 17 points from 12 games there.
County could close the gap on eighth-place St Johnstone to two points with a win in Dingwall tomorrow, albeit having a played a game more than Tommy Wright’s side.
But the Perth Saints will travel north in confident mood after Chris Kane’s injury-time strike gave them a 2-1 win over Motherwell in midweek.
Vigurs said: “Everyone seems to be beating everyone in this league at the moment.
“The confidence levels go up and down.
“We can change that again this Saturday.”
Vigurs missed 13 games between September and December due to a foot injury but feels he is back to full fitness after making his seventh consecutive start.
He said: “It is good to get a run in the team. It has been a while. I am finally injury-free. It is good to be back playing. I feel like I am up to speed now.
“I could and maybe should have nicked a goal when we were 1-0 down but I hit the post.
“It could have changed the game.”
