Views wanted on future of plots in city

-

A public consultation is being held over regulations for future allotments across Aberdeen.

New management rules are being created that will cover a variety of topics and regulate allotments managed by the council.

The topics covered include rent, cultivation and maintenance of allotments, the keeping of livestock, including chickens and bees and landlord inspection.

Aberdeen has 516 council-owned allotment plots located across 21 sites, with a further few sites in private ownership.

“I’d encourage all our allotment renters to read the new regulations”

Aberdeen City Council operational delivery convener John Wheeler said: “Our allotment renters do a fantastic job at growing their own fruit, vegetables, flowers and herbs and we are happy to help them where we can.

“The proposed new regulations should help to ensure everyone knows how the allotments operate and what’s expected.

“I’d encourage our allotment renters to read the proposed new regulations and take part in the consultation.”

More information on the proposed new regulations can be found at aberdeencity.gov.uk/ services/leisure-cultureand-parks/allotments
