North Sea worker ‘doesn’t have coronavirus’

-

A North Sea worker suspected of carrying the coronavirus has been given a clean bill of health.

The crew member had been kept in isolation on Taqa’s Tern platform, 105 miles north-east of Shetland.

He presented “minor symptoms” after returning from holiday in Thailand, but Taqa has now confirmed the worker is in the clear.

A Taqa spokeswoman said: “We can confirm that the individual on its Tern Alpha platform has tested negative for coronavirus and is well.

“Health Protection Scotland have advised that there is now no need for ongoing isolation and that the individual can go about normal activities.

“However, in line with other crew who have recently returned from the affected regions, the individual remains in voluntary isolation.”
