Spend £650m on those who need it

-

SIr, – The doubling of the cost in setting up a new Scottish benefits agency to £650 million shows the political elite of Holyrood do not have the best interests of Scots at heart, but care more for empire building.

If there is £650m of our money sloshing around it should be spent on those who need it most, not on a separatist vanity project.

If Holyrood has £650m lying spare, why do foodbanks exist? Why are hospitals in disrepair and folk having to travel hundreds of miles to get basic treatment?

The SNP have a very poor record of large projects – new hospitals lying closed, £100m for two rusting ferry hulks.

At least postpone this obscenely wasteful white elephant until after this administration is put out of power in 2021.
