Sheep attack details sought
Farmers and crofters are being encouraged to respond to a sheep worrying survey launched by the National Sheep Association (NSA).
The survey asks sheep producers to provide information about the sort of attacks they have had, how often they happen, and how the attacks affect them both financially and emotionally.
The NSA said data collected as part of the survey would be used
“It’s extremely demoralising and frustrating for people”
to back its calls for changes to legislation surrounding sheep worrying.
It will also be used to inform an upcoming campaign, aimed at the public, to encourage more responsible dog ownership.
“Dog worrying is an issue that affects so many sheep farmers across the UK and is extremely demoralising and frustrating for people,” said NSA policy officer, Ellie Phipps.
“In order to reinvigorate our work, we think it is important to have up-to-date information and data from those who are being impacted.”
She encouraged people to complete the survey at surveymonkey.co.uk/r/2020-dogworrying-survey
