Scots call up Skinner and Fagerson for Italy trip
on the World Cup in Japan after sustaining a hamstring problem in the summer Test win over France at Murrayfield.
Fagerson last played for Scotland in the 44-10 win in Georgia in August, with the 21-year-old missing out on World Cup selection.
Gloucester secondrow Alex Craig has been released from the squad back to the Gallagher Premiership club.
Scotland have lost their opening two 2020 Six Nations games to Ireland and England and next play Italy in Rome on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Edinburgh went back to the top of Guinness PRO14 Conference B after a strong defensive effort stopped Scarlets in a hard-fought 14-9 win at Parc-y-Scarlets.
Wing Duhan van der Merwe scored a try and created a second for centre Mike Scott despite Edinburgh having to defend in their 22 for large periods of the game.
Scarlets’ points came from three Dan Jones penalties which helped them secure a losing bonus point. The win was Edinburgh’s fifth consecutive victory over the Scarlets.
In Conference A, leaders Leinster continued their unbeaten season with a 36-12 bonus-point win over Cheetahs at RDS.
Ireland hooker Ronan
Kelleher closed out the first half with his seventh try of the campaign, adding to Will Connors and Michael Bent’s earlier scores, as Leinster lead 22-0.
They continued to dominate, setting up further tries for Rhys Ruddock and man of the match Connors.
Replacement forwards Luan De Bruin and Aidon Davis both crossed for Cheetahs during the final 18 minutes.
