Director will help FMS get stronger

- BY ALLISTER THOMAS

First Marine Solutions (FMS) has appointed a new director to strengthen its position in the North Sea and global oil and gas markets.

The mooring services provider said yesterday it had taken on Darren Rendall, a 20-year veteran of the industry, including nine years in management positions at rival InterMoor, as technical director.

FMS, which was established in 2008 to provide mooring equipment for global drilling operations, has created the new role for Mr Rendall.

It comes hot off the heels of the Aberdeen firm winning an eight-figure mooring equipment contract for BP in the North Sea, with FMS saying it is “firmly establishing itself as one of the leading suppliers in the market”.

Mr Rendall said he was looking forward to

“FMS has already proven its ability to supportclients”

further strengthening FMS’s position, with the addition of marine and engineering service lines.

He added: “FMS has already proven its ability to support clients with its equipment-based services and I have no doubt, with our experienced team, we will achieve the same success.”

The three-year deal with BP began last July across all of the oil and gas giant’s assets in the UK North Sea.

FMS employs around 15 people, providing marine, technical, positioning and mooring equipment services, with products available for sale and rent.

It is part of Ian Suttie’s First Tech Group, which also includes Aberdeen firms First Integrated Solutions, First Competence and Mooring Systems, as well as Lancaster-based First Subsea.
