Fishermen should get folding chairs
SIR, – Inverness Central councillor Bet McAllister thinks people want mature trees to be felled on the river bank to make way for a 60ft concrete bench for fishermen (The Press and Journal, February 17).
This “art” installation sounds similar to the blue concrete sofa that graced Fort William High Street for a time but has now disappeared. Does someone have shares in a cement works?
If some of the money allocated to this project, now running £32,000 over budget, was spent on folding chairs for the fishermen’s
hut the rest could be put to something a bit more worthwhile. Lynne Davidson, Culachy Wood, Fort Augustus
