Father and son behind Bollan’s Blue Toon loan move

- BY CALLUM LAW

Peterhead manager Jim McInally was pleased that father and son agreed Luc Bollan’s loan move to the Blue Toon would benefit him.

The centre-back has joined from Aberdeen until the end of the season.

Prior to joining the Dons last summer the 19-yearold played under his father Gary during a loan stint with Cowdenbeath from Dundee United last season.

Bollan senior is a former Tannadice team mate of McInally and the Balmoor boss spoke to the Blue Brazil gaffer about the benefits of Luc’s loan to Peterhead.

McInally said: “I talk to

Luc’s dad pretty regularly anyway and Gary thinks Luc will benefit from getting back to playing mens football again.

“In reserve football you train all week and you want to play a game on a Saturday.

“He had a taste of mens football last season with Cowdenbeath and he enjoyed it.

“I think Gary thinks he will develop better playing against men and he feels it would be beneficial for him to go out and play against men again while still having the privilege of being a fulltime footballer.”

During his time with Cowdenbeath Bollan played against Peterhead three times in League 2 and impressed McInally in those appearances.

The Blue Toon boss added: “I also saw him play for Aberdeen in a reserve game at Balmoor earlier in the season and that day he won every header.

“In League 1 defenders are put under pressure and a lot of the play is high balls in the air.

“So defenders need to be aggressive and dominant in the air and Luc is that.”
