Signal2Noise scoops top US media awards
Films: Aberdeen company’ s city showcase impressed judges
Digital media production company Signal2Noise, of Aberdeen, has kicked off the new decade by collecting four gongs won at the Aurora Awards in the US.
The accolades, which included two platinum best in show awards, were for films made for Aberdeen Harbour Board (AHB) and North Sea operator Equinor.
Come to Aberdeen was commissioned by AHB to promote the 2020 British Ports Association Conference, which is being hosted in Europe’s oil and gas capital by the harbour board in October.
The film delivers a lighthearted tour of the harbour and region, and features an actor playing the part of King David I of Scotland – who gave the port its charter in 1136.
“King David” proudly introduces the sights and sounds of Aberdeen, and occasionally reveals a rather hot temper.
The film won best of show gongs in the categories for conventions/ shows and external communications/PR.
AHB communications manager Stephanie Flynn said: “We are absolutely thrilled with how well it shows off Aberdeen harbour, the city and surrounding countryside.
“The film was very popular when it was first shown at the British Ports Association Conference in Belfast in 2019, and these awards have set the 2020 conference off to a great start.”
Mariner – A Digital Frontrunner was commissioned by Equinor to promote its commitment to innovation and digital technology. It also showcased technologies in action on Equinor’s UK North Sea Mariner field.
The film follows a day in the life of an Aberdeen employee whose working day involves using cutting-edge technologies to support safe and efficient operations, and to communicate with her offshore colleagues.
It was shot in Aberdeen and offshore on the Mariner platform, and awarded two Aurora gold awards in categories for corporate identity/image and awareness/public service announcement.
Signal2Noise writer and director Mark Turner said: “We are grateful that Aberdeen harbour and Equinor trusted us to take creative risks.
“That trust has been repaidwithinternational recognition.”
Jamie Baikie, senior producer, Signal2Noise, added the awards confirmed the firm was “on the right track”.
