The Red Final to donate season ticket

-

Aberdeen fanzine The Red Final has pledged to buy a season ticket on behalf of a Dons fan to help support the club.

The coronavirus pandemic has left both the club and many fans struggling financially and fanzine editor and P&J columnist Chris Crighton hopes the gesture can help both.

He said: “None of us knows when the season to which these tickets pertain will begin, or even what form it will take.

“But in order for it to even exist for dozens of clubs across Scotland, we realise that they need income now.

“Regardless of the fact that our clubs cannot guarantee what we are buying, we would encourage those who are in the fortunate position of knowing it will not put their families under strain at this time to consider taking this leap of faith, or else many of the clubs upon whom the collective strength of our game depends will quite simply no longer be here when football returns.

“Similarly, we acknowledge that there are many, many people and families out there who would love to be able to help the clubs who have been such a major part of their lives to stay afloat.

“But they cannot in good conscience do so when they do not know where their next pay is coming from.

“We are humbled to be able to allow one to do so, and only wish that it could be more.”

Anyone who wishes to put him/herself forward, please email redfinalarticles@gmail. com and tell them as much about their position as they are comfortable with.

The Red Final will choose one supporter to receive the season ticket at 5pm on Friday April 3.
