What: Ellon Castle Gardens Fundraising Dinner.

Where: New Inn Hotel, Ellon.

Who: More than 150 guests were in attendance including patrons and event organisers. Guests of honour included Jim McColl, formerly of the Beechgrove Garden, vice-president of Trump International Scotland Sarah Malone, and patrons Sarah Mackie and Geordie Burnett-Smith. Compere for the evening was former Press and Journal editor Damian Bates and the speaker was broadcaster Mark Stephen.

Why: The event was organised to raise money for the ongoing repair and restoration of Ellon Castle Gardens. The castle gardens were once thought to be one of the finest in Scotland, but needed much remedial work to bring them back to their former glory. This is now being rectified by a dedicated group of community leaders. The fundraising dinner raised a total of £6,500.
